Dr Babacar Diop nouveau maire de la ville de Thiès va entamer sa nouvelle mission à partir du vendredi , et l’installation du président du conseil départemental Siré Dia est prévue pour le samedi 12 février à 10h au niveau de l’instance départementale .
Pour rappel, lors des échéances locales du 23 janvier dernier , la coalition Yewwi Askan Wi a remporté les trois communes d’arrondissement et la ville de Thiès , alors que la coalition Benno Bokk Yakaar a rempilé au niveau du département . Sur 181 . 661 votants , 4. 130 bulletins nuls , soit 177. 531 suffrages valablement exprimés , ont obtenu :
Benno Bokk Yakaar 70. 811 voix , Yewwi askan Wi 69. 199 voix et Wallu Sénégal 36. 765 voix .
