Buteur et double passeur décisif face à la Namibie (4-1), samedi dernier, au stade Lat Dior de Thiès, pour le compte de la 3ème journée des éliminatoires de la Coupe du monde qui se jouera au Qatar en 2022, Sadio Mané a porté son compteur à 200 buts, toutes compétitions confondues dans sa carrière. Avec 99 buts, il est le troisième meilleur buteur africain de l’histoire en Premier League, derrière son coéquipier à Liverpool, l’Egyptien Mohamed Salah (103) et l’Ivoirien Didier Drogba (104).
À 29 ans, Sadio Mané a marqué l’histoire du football sénégalais, africain et même du monde. Pourtant, rien ne prédestinait l’enfant de Bambali à un tel destin fabuleux, au début de sa carrière professionnelle au FC Metz, en 2011. Avec le club mosellan, il n’avait marqué que seulement 2 buts en 23 rencontres, avant d’atterrir au Red Bull Salzbourg (2012-2014). C’est d’ailleurs dans cette formation autrichienne que Sadio Mané se révèle au grand public, inscrivant 45 buts en 87 matchs toutes compétitions confondues.
Arrivé en 2014 à Southampton où il passera deux saisons avant son départ à Liverpool, Sadio Mané inscrit 25 buts en 75 apparitions avec les Saints. À Liverpool, depuis l’été 2016, il a marqué 102 buts en 227 matchs joués. Avec 99 buts, Sadio Mané est d’ailleurs le troisième meilleur buteur africain de l’histoire en Premier League, derrière son coéquipier à Liverpool, l’Egyptien Mohamed Salah (103) et l’Ivoirien Didier Drogba (104).
Auteur 26 buts en 77 sélections, Sadio Mané est également le deuxième meilleur buteur de l’histoire de l’équipe nationale du Sénégal. Au total, il a marqué 200 buts en 489 matchs, dans sa carrière professionnelle, de 2011 à nos jours. Avec ce chiffre, il rejoint Papiss Demba Cissé, auteur de 206 buts dans sa carrière (189 en club et 17 en sélections).
