« La production locale est arrivée à maturité et ne pourrait être écoulée correctement avec la concurrence de l’oignon importée. »

Selon eux, « à Potou, à Podor comme toutes les localités visitées en compagnie de l’ARM (agence de régulation des marchés) et la SAHED, le constat est que la production de cette année pourrait passer de 350 000 tonnes à 480 000 tonnes. »
Insistant sur le fait que les importateurs, les producteurs et les commerçants forment un seul bloc et ont des intérêts communs, les acteurs de la filière oignon interpellent les autorités et en particulier leur ministère de tutelle.
Leur objectif, disent-ils est « d’atteindre l’autosuffisance dans le secteur comme le veut le Président Macky Sall, car déjà ils approvisionnent correctement le marché local sur 9 mois. » Négativement impactés par le Covid 19 comme tout le monde, ils disent aussi « attendre encore l’appui du gouvernement sur ce point. »
