Ils peinent à évacuer la douleur en évoquant le souvenir quotidien vécu ,des décennies durant. Cependant, malgré la douleur, certains ont tenu à apporter leur témoignage, ultime hommage à ce grand homme. Il était issu d’une grande famille commerçante établie à Dakar avant de venir s’installer à Thiès…
Un autre commerçant, se rappelle de leur dernière entrevue : « j’ai vu Baye Dame vendredi dernier, il s’affairait devant des victuailles et s’apprêtaient à les emmener à Kaolack, lors des funérailles d’un proche. Selon des informations recueillies, c’est l’là-bas qu’il était tombé malade et est décédé le dimanche. » Auparavant dit –on, il ne souffrait à leur connaissance, d’aucune maladie … »
