Un tribunal chinois a condamné à mort jeudi un citoyen américain pour le meurtre présumé de son ancienne petite amie, a rapporté la chaîne de télévision publique CCTV. Shadeed Abdulmateen, qui a enseigné à l’Université de technologie de Ningbo, a été accusé de l’homicide volontaire d’une Chinoise de 21 ans surnommée Chen, selon les médias d’État chinois.
Après un désaccord sur leur rupture en juin 2019, Abdulmateen a organisé une rencontre et une conversation avec Chen à un arrêt de bus à Ningbo, dans la province du Zhejiang, avant de la tuer avec un « couteau pliant », a déclaré le tribunal populaire intermédiaire de Ningbo dans son verdict. Le tribunal a déclaré qu’il avait accordé à Abdulmateen ses droits à la défense, y compris l’accès à un traducteur et des visites consulaires, selon le tabloïd d’État Global Times.
