Le président de la Fédération de Football, Me Augustin SENGHOR est venu en déplacement dans la cité du rail, il était accompagné des membres de la fédération, du préfet de Thiès, du président de la ligue, du directeur des infrastructures du ministère du sport. Le but de cette visite étant « d’évaluer les travaux en cours au niveau du stade Lat Dior, qui est aujourd’hui celui de l’équipe nationale A et de notre sélection. » A expliqué le président SENGHOR.
En effet, cette infrastructure qui cristallise toutes les attentes, accueille depuis deux ans, des compétitions internationales comme sous-régionales, par rapport au Cahier de charges de la CAF, dans le cadre de sa politique d’octroi des licences. « Nous sommes donc obligés de faire une mise à niveau du stade pour le rendre en adéquation avec les pré-requis nécessaires pour être homologué et aujourd’hui, « l’Etat a eu à réaliser un certain nombre de travaux, que la fédération est entrain de compléter. »
L’instance du football a donc constaté que dans beaucoup de domaines, des améliorations sont entrain d’être faites pour être fins prêts , pour les rencontres du mois de juin prochain, en vue des qualifications de la coupe du monde, avec des travaux à plusieurs niveaux : la pelouse qui a nécessite un travail d’arrache-pied et la fermeture du stade, afin « de rendre cette pelouse la meilleure possible et répondre aux normes internationales.»
Après la pelouse, des travaux seront entrepris, pour la commodité et la sécurité des spectateurs c’est ainsi qui est décidé de transformer les tribunes en dur, pour qu’elles soient des places assises avec des sièges VIP déjà disponibles pour faire en sortes que les places soient numérotées, pour connaitre le nombre de spectateurs. De même, des rampes ont été réalisées pour la circulation des personnes à mobilité réduite, « conformément aux exigences de la CAF. » Des travaux non moins importants seront réalisés : les toilettes au niveau des différentes tribunes, les vestiaires de l’équipe A et des visiteurs, sont entrain d’être élargies, les bureaux des officiels de la CAF ainsi que la salle de presse etc.
Il faut souligner que le ministère de tutelle et la fédération travaillent en toute intelligence et solidarité, « pour que le stade soit prêt à date échue, en attendant celles des autres régions, notamment de Diamniadio. A souligné le président de la fédération de football. » Pour l’heure, son instance a les coudées franches, parce que bénéficiant d’une dérogation jusqu’en fin de saison 2020-2021 avant la visite d’évaluation des inspecteurs de la CAF Néanmoins, il est prévu des travaux, pour la voirie, les parkings et le président de la Fédération compte sur l’appui des autorités de la ville, pour assainir et sécuriser le stade et alentours …
